Jamaican National Anthem
The words of the National Anthem of Jamaica were written by Reverend Hugh Sherlock and the music was created by Robert Lightbourne. The lyrics were combined with the National Anthem words by Mapletoft Poulle. The result is a beautiful, heart-warming soulful prayer. The Joint Committee of the Houses of Parliament approved the following as the Official Jamaican National Anthem on July 19, 1962, the year Jamaica received its independence from Britain.
