Ocho Rios Jamaica and Duns River Falls.
Ocho Rios is located on the northern coast of Jamaica. Travelers departing from Montego Bay typically enjoy a scenic taxicab ride, along the northern coast, to this lush paradise. Ocho Rios is known as Jamaica's garden center.
Duns River Falls is a must see attraction located in Ocho Rios and was a memorable scene in the Tom Cruise film Cocktail. Duns River Falls is not just a spectacular view; Visitors are able to climb up the falls, which are actually a series of falls that cascade from the mountains to the sea. A sure-footed Jamaican guide leads visitors that have a taste for adventure up the falls. After scaling the falls, visitors can find a fun and unique shopping experience within walking distance. Just off Main Street, Ocho Rios has two craft parks, the Ocho Rios Craft Park and the Olde Market Craft Shoppes. The Ocean Village Shopping Centre is also located close by. Hundreds of vendors are bundled tightly in this area selling everything from gold watches to wood carvings to Blue Mountain coffee. Here you will even find local cooks preparing traditional jerk pork over an open grill. You can expect to bargain for prices here. However, we think that you'll find that these vendors are not as high pressure as they initially seem.
If duty-free shopping is more up your alley, the Taj Mahal Shopping Centre is another complex of fine shops selling souvenir items, liquor, and Blue Mountain coffee.
Another one of our favorite tourist attractions is the James Bond Beach located just west of Ocho Rios in the town of Aracabessa. Located near Ian Fleming's former home affectionately called Goldeneye.
Ocho Rios has plenty of other daytime activities to choose from. In addition to diving, deep-sea fishing and golf, Ocho Rios has one of the best polo facilities in the Caribbean. Chukka Cove Equestrian Centre is located just outside of Ocho Rios and is the home of many international matches. Biking is another favorite in Ocho Rios. Visitors enjoy biking along the North Coast Highway.
